Not only is this week Christmas. Its my last week home and in CT. Tomorrow is my last day of work in Westport at Targetraining. I'm not going to lie and say I love work, Who does? My time at Target was not only a challenge to me, but to my co-workers as well. I had alot going on in my head and alot of challenges thrown my way. I'm not going to make excuses i could have handeled myself better and at times I could have chosen not to let things get in my way. I guess its all part of life and it's little lessons along the way.

So, now I'm off to Durango for a fresh start. A fresh look at what I want to accomplish with my athletics and overall well being. I'm getting ready for a fantastic and hard fought Journey to the top. I'm very thankful for the gifts of friendship, love, and athletic prowiss. My friends and loves for pushing me in the right direction and not letting me give in. It may not seem like I'm the strongest person out there to an outsider looking in at my career. I beg to differ, as i'm sure most of my friends and loved ones would agree. I have chosen to put my heart, passion, and mind to work on other things less out in the open. For all of that i sometimes look back and think i have nothing to show for my strength, but this is my time to shine, and prove myself to my number one critic, MYSELF.

I want to look to the future and invite everyone, friend or fow, to look with me as i put my passion and heart on the line once again in the pursuit of happiness and get on the road toward winning.

60 min. trainer ride

Indoors today due to the 8 inches of fresh Colorado style powder out my front door.

I havent had much to say about cross this fall. I get all bent out of shape about it when i'm not on form or even going to races. I need to get over myself and get out the door and do what I love.

I think cross is going through some growing pains. Super large fields, crazy drunk hecklers, and the crazy coast to coast chase for UCI points. Speaking of hecklers the whole Page/Richard sachs thing sounded like the wrong way to end the season. Not to mention the Myerson/Baker punch up.

2 miles easy in my Newtons
Near death in the snow and cold

Today i set out to run 4 miles nice and easy. It began to snow as i was walking out my door. It wasnt just snow it was flippin "puking". I set out in my newton shoes again today. I have about 30 runs in them and i really like them. I found out rather quickly that the Newton Suck Ass in the snow. I only ended up running 2 miles, and nearly had to walk home as i'm no good a ice skating.

WTF Newton!

Come out with a trail shoe or somthing that has a little bit of grip.

I think I'm going to have a Love/Hate relationship with these flippin shoes.

First Weekend

Thank God or whom ever you want. My first weekend back has come to a close. Gloucester GP started the weekend with a BANG. The bang being a exploded chain about 3 seconds into the race. Those who saw it could not believe the circus skills i possess. Took everything I had to keep from going down. It was a bit like the famous Erik Zabel TdF spring from years ago. The one where he cliped out rode the top-tube with both feet on the ground. Only this time i had 5 or 6 guys go up my back. Needless to say I was a DNF That made 6 DNF's in a row at one of my favorite races. Not Cool.

Round 2 was way better. The bikes were flipping awesome. The legs felt good, and the skills were coming back with every lap at race speed. Nothing to say other then it was a good start and even more important a FINISH.

I also Raced Jamestown Classic bike race on Columbus Day. It was nothing special a group went up the road without me. I didnt feel like riding yet, still a little poked from the cross race. Sat around thinking about next weeks cross races and hoping for rain. Going into the last K i thought maybe i'll give it a dig. I almost came up with the goods taking out the field sprint. I thought that was funny since this was my first and last road race of the year. I did overtake a Kelly Benefits and Rock Racing rider, which is nice.

Alabama

So i'm not really sure how to start this. I have told the story of the race so many times now i feel like i have been playing telephone with myself. Not sure if the story fits what happened in the race anymore.

Flew down to Alabama with Dom once again. Npthing to speek off as far a funny storys or diastors. Picked up our retal car, which sucked. I t was some Jeep abortion. Looked like it wouldnt do anything well and it really didnt.

Once at the race course we took off, and began the pre-ride. Dom thought it would be a great idea to once again twist himself into a pretzel and crash. It was such a great crash too. I was up the trail and heard the crash begin to happen behind me. I then stopped, turned around the looked back. Both Dom and Cannondale Scalpel were in the midst off crash and both still moving out of control. Dom and I both thought this was the end of his race and maybe the season. It looked and sounded however alot worse then it was. The rest of the ride i fought with my new bike, as i still didnt have things set up the way i wanted them. All and all the course is one of the best if not te best course there is on te whole Xterra tour. After the bike we ran the run course, and took a small swim in the lake. Everything felt pretty darn good an we both wanted to get the race over and done with.

On saturday We did a litte bit of everything. Little Bike, Little Run, Little Swim. Love those days. After we went to (olive garden) kinda lame but the food was ok and what we need to fuel for the race.

Race day was ok. WE got breakfast and rode our bikes over to the course from the Hotel. Its about 7 miles and a great warm-up. We tried to leave as late as we could as to not get to the course to early before the race. Both got kitted up and ready. The cannon went off and my race felt like it had already gone up in smoke. I couldnt move my arms and had to do backstroke on the second loop of the swim. I was already in servival mode. On the bike the legs felt real good and ready to go. Only to get a flat 3 or 4 miles in. The stans in the tires sealed the leak and i thought i was ok. Mark Leishman came up and around me soon after. It was nice to have someone to ride with but soon i have to let him go and decide when to fill my tire back up as it was almost to the rim. We came to the base of the long fire road climb an i thought this was it. I had to hit the tire up now. Once i did Brian Smith came past. Just my luck. I hooked up to his wheel and just chilled trying to get my head and legs back on the same page. Things were going well and the fire was coming back. The tire started to go away again just as we cought Ryan Ignatz, and i thought ok maybe if i stop now and hit it up one more time an can chase back to the both of them before T2 and we could all run together. That would have been a real good run group. This was not to be and before i was back to T2 i was riding the rim this time with a full flat tire. As i loked up the road i saw Brian and Ryan running away together. I was so bummed. I took off out of T2 in about 20th and said to myself stay with it you never know, and you need the racing. Things went well and the heat got to alot of the guys up the trail. People just started appearing in front of me. I made it past 11 guys to finish 9th. Not to bad with the maddness on the bike. Brian and Ryan were 6th and 7th respectivly.

Not to bad not to good.

On a good note. Dom killed it. He came out of the water in great spot and had a strong bike and a great run to finish 4th on the day. So proud of him. The training has been good and we have been real working hard at this.

Race Recap

So, I have been putting off doing a race recap due to the fact both Xterra's have sucked so bad.

Xterra West: Dom and I made it into the I.E. (inland empire) on thursday before the race. All was good, saw Kahuna Dave and others seting up the race compound in the record heat. We got out onto the bike course soon there after. The bike course is a great one, lots of ups and downs but no shade at all. This is due to the big fires they had in that area some time ago. Everything was going ok, both a little tired from the flight. Dom felt it nessisry to crash and roll around in the dirt for a while. scuffing his knee and elbow pretty good and twisting himself up like a pretzel. We made it back to the hotel ordered ups some zza (pizza) and went to bed. The next morning we got a good 30 min. run in and then took off down to Carlsbad to meet up with Chris from 2XU. We sell there stuff at the store and love it. He was able to get us our new race suits printed with our Targetraining logos and we each picked up some of the new compression tights which we wore to bed the next two nights. Saturday was pretty chill we took another look at the course, and witnessed people dropong like fly's trying to get throught the 21k trail running race. WE then had dinner at a great Italian resurant with Kate, my cousin, and Dom sister.

Race day. All was going to plan got out well in the swim even thought i had claw mark up and down my back. Came out of the water a little behind Josiah Middaugh. He is always someone i love to ride with. I know if we work together we can catch most of the field. As soon as i hit the bike my legs went away. Not sure what was going on I sucked it up and keep trying to drive the pace. 10min. I felt it all slip away. There was nothng there, nothing I could do. I finished rthe first loop of the bike and went right to the car. Got my run shorts on and took off to watch the rest of the race. Dom was having a great race and he too was sticking to this plan. It worked really well till he tried to run up a 20% grade right out of T2 which the top 4 guys all walked up. Dom Blow, and gouild not catch his breath for the rest of the race. Dom Ended up going from 6th to 18th on the run. Not what we had hoped for before heading all the way across the country.

The trip back was ok packed up our bikes, then chilled with the boulder crew till it was time to make the drive to LAX. This is were we had the most fun all trip. Drank some beers, told storys, and got lost (like Spinal Tap) in the baowls of the airport. We made it in to JFK at bout 6am. only to have it take more then and hour for them to find our bikes. By the time we made it to the car and on the highway, it was full on rush hour. We hit up Queen, Bronx, western Ct. all trying to get dom to work at 10am. for a PT session. All and all it took a few days to recover from the travel.

Xterra South is here once again. I cant belive its been a year already. Last year at this time i was hanging With former cyclocross teamate Jamie Pair in Hotlanta getting used to the steamy weather. This year i'm back in CT. working at the Targetraining, and wishing summer would just get here already.

Today should be pretty fun, I have new rubber coming my way from QBP. I got Kenda samll block 8's, Karma's in 2.2(fatboy), and Kozmikk lite 2's. I also got Dom and I some rad gloves(pic's to come later) Still trying to decide which tires to bring to Bama. I have to Stan them on my new race wheels. I got eh new ZTR race wheelset which are about 1215g about 100g lighter them my flippin road wheels. (CRAZY) Also i finlly got my new Team Cannondale Scalpel dialed as best i could.I think with barends it's still going to be under (21 LBS) P.S. that a size large! Still waiting on an SI stem so i can use my rad riser bars. This bike is ripping, i cant belive how well the lefty works. 110mm of travel feels bottomless when riding XC.

Today is going to be crazy Dom and I leave in the morning so we will be busy working, training, packing, wrenching, eating, napping, eating, and maybe even swimming.

Both dom and I have great legs right now, i hope everything works out in bama. This is the first year i have done the work and feel ready to race. Wish us luck!

Put in a good 5k this weekend. I ended up running 15:47 which once i got over geting beat. Found that it was the fastest i have run since sept. of 2003 the week before i was 4th a Xterra Nationals. I felt pretty good but had no speed, so i got out kicked. Not the big a deal but i hate to lose. I'm feeling good still and the form is coming around i just hope i can put it all together in a damn Xterra.

I want to break 15- in sept. I have run 15:03 at that race but things that start will 14 are worlds better.

This past weekend was the stuff of dreams. Bad dreams that is. Not sure what to say, other then i felt like "a waste of space, of time, of paint" I hope i can pull myself up by the boot straps and get on with the training. I said before this season is alll about Richmond and Maui.

Lindsey is in Maui right now trying to convince the gods to let me back in there good graces. I hope it works! On the training front Dom worked me pretty hard in the pool this morning. I cant wait to see some gains in the water.

I big Congrats has to go to Conrad, Dan Hugo and Jimmy "the fastest swimming rock" Archer. Getting to see Conrad from the sidelines was eye opening, he is on a diferent Xterra Planet right now. Dan was also really impressive.

I don't really like Danilo Di Luca, With all his doping and what have you. I just love to watch him climb and sprint. Not sure what it is about the little Italians. These guy can sprint and climb. Most people pick or the other. The Italians like to do both. For example Alessandro Ballan, Paolo Bettini, Stefano Garzelli. These guys can all go up hill like Angels and sprint like Demons.

So i guess i'm doing the first 2 Norba's this year. I have no clue what to think. Could go well or not. Only catch is i have not clue what going well will be nor do i have any clue what a bad day will be like. I'm kinda starting over. Wish me luck? I always used to say i don't need luck i make my own. That was a different Tyler, but maybe this one is better and stronger and don't need no luck anyway. One thing i have found out about racing as i have grown OLD is. That there is no going into a race hope'in to do well. There is no hope, you have either done the work or not. You cant Hope. Its not like its 50/50 and maybe you win maybe your last. Most of the time you finish were you should and that's how fit you are! Kind of a bummer for guys like me who have a list of excuses a mile long. You never really know till you risk it all once again.

Just read on Molly Camron's site she came down with the same flu bug. It just will not go always. I still feel a little tired, still cough a bit while on the bike and running. All i want to do is train! I'm just starting to feel like myself again, and i still have alot of work to do while here in San Diego. As i mentioned before there is a good chance i could be moving back to the East Coast. I'm looking into taking a job at Targetraining in Westport Ct. There a top notice training outfit based around cycling, Running and Triathlon. Targetraining is also the home of my cousin Dom Gillen. It would be a great to be able to push each other, and get to that next level we have both dreamt about for so long. With the support that targetraining can bring and the support we can give each other i think we can get it done.

If you didnt know already the flu sucks! Every time i get the flu its all most like i have never had it. That this is the first time i have felt this bad. Not sure why that is but after its gone it seems like nothing untill it comes again. It reminds me of exams. God knows the last time I took an exam. So i'm out of the woods with the flu, still a bit of a cough. I hate running and coughing it always feels like i'm going to pop and EYE out. That and it must look like i have a bit of the torret* every time I cough I skip, jump, trip, and or hop down the road. Not cool! I know you dont ever really look cool when your running. Looking less cool then you already do is super Lame!

I might be moving back to the east coast. Trying to come up with reasons not to make the leap and i'm only on #2. I have been working on said list for quite some time. I just need to iron out the details and get back to you with the conclusion.

Back to getting fit, thank god. Next week should be the first week of quick stuff.

Big weekend

I'm so stoked with the way this week and weekend went for me. Its been a while since i have felt good while training. I had a few weeks last year where i felt good while in Boulder and then back on the east coast. still there is nothing like your first big week of training to get you head and body ready for the fun stuff. This week i had 26 hours of training time. I know its on that much but its been a real long time since i have done anything like this. The week was lced with a 4 hour ride and hour run on Sat. Then a long run of 1.45 on Sunday. I'm starting to feel like a real athlete again, and that's so nice. I think i was able to get in about 17 miles today. I took off with the idea that i would run from my place and around mission bay. I didn't really know what to think. I made it to the opposite side of the bay right at the half way point. I thought ok I'm all in, no more out and back shit. So I keep it going. It turns out that i can make it around the bay no problem . It was a great run. First time I have said that in years. Its also the longest run i have done since the "stick in the leg" few years back.

My sister is in town tomorrow lots of fun I HOPE. She can be a handful.

So, I'm very excited to bring everyone the wonderful news. That The CLIF BAR Development Cyclo-Cross Team have reached a huge milestone in there fight agenst goble warming! Lots of you have seen the cross bike the few seasons with the big red or GREEN "start globle cooling" stickers on them. I never thought that a group of athletes using globle warming to get sponsors would have such an effect. Since the team started "start globle cool" efforts the avg. world Temp has dropped sugnificanly. Made it back to the OB late last night. I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. First stop was Telluride to see Linz and help her get her feet planted under her butt once again. For those who dont know Linz Really good Friend Pro Freeskier Billy Poole Passed away in SlC while shooting for famed Ski film maker Warren Miller. Not sure what else to say about that. The world is missing a wonderful person and an unbeliveble Skier. Once we got ab grip on the crazy Colorado weather and a hole opened. We made out way up to Boulder to gt everything moved out of our old place and say some goood bye's. We will both miss Boulder a ton and i'm not sure we will be able to stay away for that long. Once loaded up we made our way back to Telluride to unload linz and pack the rest of my shit so I could get back to San Diego and back to getting fit. I have alot on my plate this season and i hope to turn some heads.

Tiger Army and Track World Cup

Busy weekend down here in Sunny SAND Diego. Lot of training along with lots of fun.

I remember about 4 or 5 weeks ago looking at the Tiger Army Myspace page that they had an up coming show in the SD. I wasn't sure if i was going to be moved in yet or even in town. I didn't think about the show till about 9 pm. Friday night. In light conversation with my new roommate Paul from the Mass. I said there was this band, and they had a show at the soma? Paul looked up at me and said, Dude it like a mile away.Before i could say anything he had keys in hand and we were out the door. What can i say, getting to see one of the best Socal bands in Socal was a trip. So stoked i had the chance to hit them up on there home turf.

I did get the chance as per my wonderful Girl friends suggestion to take in a once in a life time Track Cycling World Cup. It was made extra special because its an Olympic year. This meant that almost all the big gun's and worlds finest were out, trying to show there stuff in hopes of make there Olympic dreams come true. That racing was great. I made it to (El EH) L.A. after a good day of training on the coast, and some lifting. The first event was the mens Team pursuit, 1st Aus, 2nd Den, and 3rd Ukn. The team pursuit is so cool the team work and amount of pain is just awesome. That is one trip to the pain cave i'm not sure most cyclist would ever want to make. Next were some Kirin semi's and yes Kirin like the Beer. The event is Japanese and is named for the beer due to them sponsoring the events in Japan the are bet on the horses. After the Kirin there was Womens points race, pretty awesome stuff Marianna Vos, was in the house. See was the world cyclocross and world road champion a year ago at the ripe age or 19. See had a great race and finished 3rd. Two girls took a lap early in the race and the rest of the top women could never get the race back under control. I all so got the see the dead Kilo, and mens 15k skrach race. Thats an easy one to watch, a bunch of dude race 15k and who ever gets to the finish first wins. We had 3 guys in the race Bobby Lea, Colby Pierce, and the elder Kenny Williams. The rode just the Americans do, strong but not savvy. I also was trying to work out the camera thing, i don't get how my sister can do but i cant.

Christmas Past. It seems every year around this time my thought are still sent on the passing Cyclocross season and what its going to be like next year. All so running through my head are the thoughts of regaining my place on the podium at Xterra National races. But this year is a little different. I have a plan and some big goals. The last time i had a goals like this i had a wonderful season, and hope to return to that this year. So here is my Christmas wish list.

I cant wait to see results from the next two weeks worth of Euro races. I know that Ryan, Tim, and Jpows are all going to kill it. The level of US cross has come up so much in the last 3 years. I just hope we can start to make bigger waves in Euroland.

In other notes, next season will see me return to my roots. That is a bit of everything. I have a bunch of big time MTB races on tap. As well ass Duathlon Nationals, US Xterra's and Cross. Only this year i have started a team, that should give me the support i will need for such and undertaking. In Jan i'm moving to Sand Diego with Lindsey's blessing. This will be super key! I have not put a solid base down since 2003 when i was in Clarmont Fl. Also It looks like the team will be all sorted with BMC and Sram goodies. Can't tell you how badly i want new bikes right now. This Cross season was such a fuck-up. i even missed Xterra Nationals just to stand around at Interbike with people who ether didnt know or could tell if they were really at all interested with Bikes or not. You dont get into bikes to make money you get into bike because they get into you. Its not a part time gig. I cant wait to dawn a short sleeve jersey and go for runs on the coast. Maybe catch some waves, and do a little swimming.

Till then i'm stuck in the cold waiting for Lindsey to get back from WA.

I still cant get over what happend to Ryan at Nationals. I'm with Geoff Proctor in saying that they need to have differnet course for the Elite race and the Amature races. I would also like to say at this point that the mens elite field need to be limited. There should never be more then 60 pro men at the National Championship. Hell they could have a B nationals, I think that would be great idea. They split the field in the pro short track at sea otter why not cross nat's. That way instead of having guys who are going to fight to stay within two laps of the leaders riding off a over worked course and into favorites. You give the Pro men the respect they deserve, and you get one of the greatest shows on two wheels. The elites need to be treated that way. So i would like to say best of luck to Ryan and a speedy recovery to Steve. Next year i hope they have things sorted out. To those of you who say
Ryan would not have won the race. There are lots of you out there on you tube. I say fuck off ryan is a talent and if you look close ryan was in forth still in front of Timmy.

The last three or four weeks have been forgetable. 5 DNF's most of them my own falt. 2 Crashes. Broken parts! Blood! cross gut. Fattness. Lots of Heart ache.

Today was USGP #1 crushed my bike in a first lap crash. Then broke my chain in a second lap flip. I'm beat up but not broken... YET. lets see what tomorrow has in store for me.

At the rate im going on my drive through CANS ASS i will get stuck in a Twister that contains a BIKE RIDING WITCH! only never to find the fucking wizard, not have ruby slippers and never see home (boulder) again.

I guess all i really need is to have the last 4 weeks go well. Fingers and toes are crossed.

Playing Catch Up.

Not only am i playing catch up with this whole blog thing, but my fittness, and bikes as well.

It all started back on Tuseday Sept. 25th. Packed up the VW and drove out of Boulder looking forward to a big week of fun and some great racing. My plan was to drive to Vegas drop off Bike #2 so people chould drool over it while at the show. Check out Interbike as i have never been. Race Cross Vegas, and maybe have a good ride and crack the top 20. Hang out in vegas for a day and take in the Crit thursday night. Leave and drive to Lake Tahoe firday moring for Xterra Nationals. Ride the Course, run the course, rest. Saturday go to the season ending banquet. Where Will the thrill won Mr. Xterra for his RV trip around the country. Race sunday, then party down. Monday Lindsey and I were going to check out Squaw Valley, as a winter spot for her to get her Pro Skiing thing back on track.

Lets just say none of that happend!

Three hours into the trip the Car broke in Glenwood. There was only one rent a car place in town and they didnt have any cars for us for about 3 hours. I had 4 bikes 6 sets of wheels, tools extra parts, and what have you. They first said they could get us a dodge Caliber which would have been way to small. Seconds later the huge Ford Expodition rolled up, and rent a car lady said do you think that would work. To which Lindsey and I said FUCK YES. Shes gave us a killer deal on it which was nice cause we spent hundreds of dollars on Gas driving that fucking tank around the country for a week. So we were back on the road, and got into vegas around 3:30 in the morning on wednesday. Went down to the show found Lance from TRP who totally hooked us up with great brakes. I finished the second bike and looked around the show a bit before i had to get ready for Cross Vegas. Lindsey and I drove out to the race , let just say i was so stoked and i was ready to go. The legs felt ok, but the head was there. Did a little warm up got signed in found some cross tires, as our "race" wheels had not come yet. Went to the line super happy and ready for the through down to come. Pulled off my warm-ups and pilled them with everyone's next to the start line. Then the race was off to thousonds of screaming fans, i had a great start and had moved up to about 25th or so after the start loop. Going into the first run up section i was getting ready to dismount the bike when half way through i was bumped from the side and put my right shifter into the fence ripping it off of my bike. This ment no shfting and no braking. I move over and let the whole field ride past as i would have crashed everyone around me if i had pressed on. I spent about 35 min. out there riding the 42x11 till the legs just gave out. What a fucking bummer. I then rolled back to the start line to find my Kit and all my clothing from warm-up was gone. This was a total Fuck because in my jersey pocket was my fucking Walet. Stupid TYLER. I ran around for about 90 min. looking for it before i gave in. Drove back to the hotel got changed. We had Vip Passes to the Sinclair Imports party which is the hot Industry party at Interbike all the big wigs show up to get Crunk. Because i didnt have a wallet i couldnt get in. Lindsey and I went back to the hotel and had room serives and went to bed. Thursday morning i awoke to the hotel phone ring. It was someone from interbike saying that my wallet had been turned in to Interbike security. Thank God! The show thursday was Ok, i didnt really have time to talk with all the people i had hoped to talk to but know one ever does. Thursday night Lindsey and I went out to the Crit Finals over at Mandlay Bay. It was pretty sweet, I knew a ton of people racing. My buddy Adam Myerson had an outstanding race. i'm not sure he was ever out of the top 20 all night. He ended up rolling across the line in 5th. Not a bad way to end the road season and begin cyclocross. Friday I sat around the show in hopes of getting my race wheels from Miche, but Parbo got them instead. I guess i need to win a small National championship or somthing. Let show had left me felling really down and the legs hurting. I wasnt about to drive 8 hours to lake Tahoe to pay like 300 dollars to race around and not do well. Instead Lindsey called a friend in West Hollywood and we went to Cali. I also got ahould of my teamate Brent Prenzlow and did a small race outside of L.A. it didnt go to bad. Brent won and i was 5th after setting the pace up from for 30 min. Lindsey and I then went down to Huntington Beach and had some diiner and a walk on the pier. Everything was nice, even the skinheads! hey you always need somthing to talk about right! The trip was finishing up and we were about ready to get back to boulder move out of our place and into a new home. thats number 5 for me this year, i think 4 for lindsey.

Its been a while But i have been busy or not depends on who you ask. So here a list of things that i have and haven't done, if you care or not.

Last weekend skipped the season opening cross race in Co. cause i was so stressed you could fry and egg on my head.

Started the cross build. Didn't get it done in time to do the Wed morning coffee shop worlds cross ride. All because i didn't have a flipping chain tool.

When to see the Arcade Fire at Red Rocks! Super fucking cool they are becoming one of my all time favorite bands.

Thursday motorpaced with Frank Overton in Boulder, and had a blast. It was great to put some work in and get the bike as dialed as i could before today's race.

Yesterday got into Mich. no worries. Met up with Brent got food, Hotel and so sleep.

Today was the first race of my season. Get the cobwebs out and open the legs for whats going to be a long and hard season. Had a good warm up didn't like the course much but nothing to do about that. Only have 2 UCI points so I'm last call up. Being last call up blows i was 4th row and about 25th or so after the first lap. That means i was already a min down on Jon Page and the front of the race. I stayed pretty cool and didn't freak out. I spent laps 2-5 just riding my own race and feeling good about myself. Rode from 25-9 by the end of the forth lap i had pulled myself and Grant Berry of Durango up to Steve Tillford and Adam Myerson. who were in 7th and 8th. Just as we made contact with them i got a Freak side stitch. I had to sit up and take a lap to get things under control. Buy the end of my lap off i was 16th with less then 2 laps to go. I felt ok so i rode "firm" till i was 13th. Not a bad start to the season at least its a race under my belt. 4 or the top 5 races today raced Worlds last season so the race was 4reel. Brent my teammate had a strong day and rode to 6th. We only had one casualty today and it was a 303 from rim. about half way Brent cracked his from wheel and kept riding till his front tire was about flat when he noticed it was cracked. He took a bike and but was just to far in back of fith to make a late race charge for the last podium spot.

Better luck next time, but good start for me and for the Team.

Shit hitting the fan

So its about to hit the fan, the shit that is. This is the time of year when the next race is just about all you can think about. I will have two races every weekend from now till mid Dec. It's going to be super hard, and a great deal of fun. I do have some Hang ups though. Like, Linz and i don't have a place to live come Oct. 1st. Then I'm gone for most of the month, till i come back grab Linz and fly off to Maui for Xterra Worlds on the 28th. Should be a good break for mid cross season fun. I hope that when i get back some stress will be gone and i can hunker down and round out the form for Cyclocross Nationals. I will have two weekends here in Co. which is will be a blessing. I know I'm not going to want to travel to far for a bit. After that, Linz and i need to figure out who she is Skiing for this season and to which Mtn. she will have a pass. I'm looking forward to having a bit of a break to Ski, learn how to XC ski, maybe snowshoe, and maybe do a warm weather cycling camp too. Things are looking up and I'm very optimistic about the future. Now i just need to find one thing to focus my efforts on. Ok maybe tow or three things. What would life be with out variety, some say its a spice but i have never used it in my cooking.

The Track, The Sister, and Some Rest.

So Saturday morning i woke up nice and early and drove my ass down to the springs. It was to good an opportunity to pass up, getting to riding the track with my sister.

My sister is a Freshman at Fort Lewis down in Drurango, see fell in love with Durango when she came down to visit me back in April while i was laying low. Well i was laying low but with a bit of a high profile. Last week my sister joined the famed Cycling team. I was so stoked, an proud to hear the news. Durango is one of the bike crazy towns, where its hard not to ride your bike. in her first weekend on the team Rick Crawford asked her and a bounce of the kids to come to Colorado Springs to get some track time in before they go off to San Diego for Track Nationals. My sis asked Rick if he would bring an extra track bike down so that i could come ride with them. So i showed up switched saddles, and pedals and jumped up on the track. It was super fun, with a touch of really creepy. I thought all was going well till i thought i could coast through a turn and nearly came to grief. No worries though, i didn't crash and i learned real quick you have to keep the cranks turnin. I had a great time visiting with my sister, and Crawford. I'm so pleased she is doing well and is so happy. Cant wait to see her again.

Sunday was nice, cool and crisp. Went out and had myself a great long run. Monday was nice to, spent the day with my Linz, who happened to have the day off. We also went over to the 29th street mall and had some Wine and took in a movie. We saw Death at a Funeral, which was super funny, we both absolutely loved it, and would recommend it to anyone.

On an note, the team Had some great success this weekend, Brent Prenzlow took the first Cyclocross win of the season. He won ahead of Mark McCormack and Matt Krause. Here is what Brent had to say about the race.

- I opened my cross season yesterday in New England at the Milford Cyclocross Classic held in rainy conditions. There was a small, but competitive 20 rider field including local heavy-hitters Mark McCormack and Matt Krause. I was able to get into the lead group of 4 riders. McCormack entered the pits and fell behind with a cleat issue. With the race down to 3, I upped the pace and Krause fell back leaving just two of us in front. Approaching the last lap, I was able to get a gap over the barriers and held a narrow lead all the way to the finish to take the win! I was pleasantly surprised and was awarded a nice $200 cash prize for the effort. Check out the new kit in action!

So i totally Junked it today. This morning was my 2nd Boulder cross group ride of the season. I ended not feeling very good at all, but really wanted to get some good work. Off the tine i was out in 3rd just behind fast starting Greg, and Jon baker. The pace wasnt that high, so i was looking for ways to get around. when we came to the first set of barriers i hopped off the hopped back on. Only to find i was on the top tube not the saddle. Fuck that hurt so fucking bad. My Eyes instantly teared, i limped off the course and back home. I have been feeling super down on myself all morning.

This afternoon has been much better, i was able to get the guys at sports gearge to Dremel out the oles of my cross shoes. i have some of the worlds smallest toes. so i can never get my cleat puched forward enough to have it at or right behind the ball of my foot.

When i got back from fixing my shoes, the DHL finlly came with my Cross and Track frames. Hey look great. I cant wait to get out on them i hope next weeks some time.

I'm outside gettin rained on with my computer, so i guess i should go.

Went to Keystone today with the Idea of racing the Short Track at the keystone climax, droping everyone and riding into the sunset. Insead i got my teeth kicked in, put my tail between my legs and rode around like a little girl. I'm guessing it has somthing to do with my throat being soar again last night and this morning. I better not have Strep again. For those of you who dont know. My last 5 weeks have been ruled by the Iron Fist of Strep Throat. Linz and i have been just been passing it back and forth. Not sure what else to say. I was feeling so optimistic yesterday, cause every day i seemed to be getting stronger. I also changed shoes yesterday, y'all know how that goes. I might take a few more days or a week to get the bling shoes all sorted.

So it's begining to look alot like christmas around here. My cross and track bikes did not come but my new blinged out mtb/cross shoes came thanks to Ryan over at Colorado Multisport. Lake is hooking my team up with some hot shoes this season.

One last thing. I was procratinating like i do every day, on the myspace. When i came across a picture that made me want to shave my head and cry. I know there are some people out there who dig my hair, but its become the topic of inter struggle and strife as of late. I kinda want to take a Hair Poll.

Track Bike and Cross Bike Build

Today is the day my friends, i'm getting one of my new cross bikes and my new track frame. I'm going to take some cool pic's and update y'all as i build me sexy rigs over the next 2 weeks. I guess the Track bike is going to be red. The Cross bike is a very cool pearl white. I also have a pair of silver lake shoes coming to me this afternoon aswell. I hope to get those sorted tonight so i can race the Keystone Short Track in them tomorrow. I have a very busy next few weeks with some super hard training days and a bunch of races to get ready for Cross Vegas.

First Boulder Wednesday cross ride was this morning. One of the many reason for return to town. We had Ben turner, Brandon Dwight, Jon Baker, myself along with other strong boulder types. I felt pretty good, but the skills need lots of work.

Funny side note, one of the guys tried to make fun of me cause he thought i was riding Tim Johnsons Wheels and tires. Funny how T. Johnson can mean two different things in cyclocross. I just smiled, and went right to the front. I'm going to be looking for big thing from John "breaker" this season not only because we have the same coach and i know what he's been up to, but he has the right mindset.

Racing this season for Alan North America. There an italian company, with lots of history. I just hope this old itilain guy didnt bulid my cross wheels.
